Beginning of diagnostics in Sabac dates from 1947 when the first department was established for that purpose in School of agriculture. In 1952. The Ministry of agriculture decided to form Veterinary Diagnostic Station to satisfy the needs for cattle breeding. Thanks to continuous development in production and processing, the need for controlling a food of animal origin in industry production appeared so for that purpose was formed laboratory for quality and hygienic control of food of animal origin.
In 1973.Veterinary Diagnostic Bureau was formed, and later in 1974.the bureau was joined to Veterinary Station, Sabac, and formed Cattle breeding Veterinary Center Sabac.
Since 1974 the Bureau was working as Epizootiology Diagnostic Station as a part of Cattle breeding Veterinary Center Sabac. This stayed unchanged until 1990 when the Bureau became independent firm called Regional Veterinary Bureau. Finally, in March 15th 1993.the bureau was changed in Veterinary Specialized Institute Sabac.
